The house is a farm-house dating back to the early nineteenth century, which has been refurbished to ecological design standards: it features the preservation of the original structure, natural paints, cork insulation, wooden stove heating, rainwater recycling, an organic waste disposal system and enclosures powered by solar batteries. The farm is surrounded by the thousands of hectares of woodland of the Sterza valley, between the Cecina valley and the Era valley. The farm is a family-run business with certified organic crops. It covers approximately 70 hectares. Surrounding the farm-house there is an olive grove and a vineyard, an orchard and pastures and crops, which are home to our donkeys of the rare Amiatina breed. All around are over 50 hectares of woodland, which also belong to the farm and which are criss-crossed by the recently-restored ancient tracks of the charcoal burners, which lead to the yards where they used to make coal.

This thick network of mule tracks that runs through the different types of woods, (scrub, oak wood, pine wood) is used every day by our donkeys ridden by our guests/excursionists and novice horseriders guided by experienced official guides. Our aim is also to recover the ancient local traditions in terms of crafts and food. Our guests can use the swimming-pool (12x6), tennis table, a well-tended park for grownups and a playground for children. And that’s not all, if you want to walk, ride a bike or go on a guided excursion on horseback or riding a donkey, you just have to ask. We offer traditional Tuscan dishes made with the farm’s products, which are grown with (certified) organic methods. Our organic produce includes extra-virgin olive oil, white and red wine ….and also, honey, jams, tomato purees, mushrooms, tomatoes and artichokes in oil, spices.
